Pregnant and itchy skin?
That's the skin around your belly stretching slowly that's making you itch. Try putting on some intensive lotion every night to stop the itching and to prevent stretch marks.
Reply:Dry skin can result from the skin stretching. Also, your need for fluids increases during pregnancy, and if you don't up your water intake, dry skin can be aggravated.
Reply:Only because of the dry skin. Try drinking more water and putting on some lotion. If it's something other than dry skin make sure to let your doctor know.
Reply:ive never been pregnant before, but ive heard that its because the skin is stretching. is it on your stomach? you may be getting stretch marks already.
Reply:Yeah... my sister couldnt sleep because of it... I wasnt too bad. Go to the store and get Bag Balm. It's extra thick.. moisturizing. Maybe try cold creme, too
Reply:Yep, I have itchy belly, back, arms, legs, breasts, everything. I use cocoa butter lotion. It works for the itch and it's supposed to help with stretchmarks. Good luck.
Reply:I'm sure it's absolutely fine, and itchy skin is very common in pregnancy but *please* get it checked as gestational itching can be a sign of liver problems caused by pregnancy. It's rare but I think it would be worth getting checked out by your doctor or midwife, just to rule anything out and make sure it is just normal pregnancy itchy skin.
Reply:Giiiiiiiirllllllllll, get that lotion on there! ASAP. This is your skin getting drier and stretching. It will itch when it's stretching, but because it is getting colder outside, ofcourse it will itch extra.

Just make sure you are lathering on that lotion, cocoa butter, vitamin E, etc....to try an help as much as possible.
Reply:It's actually a side effect or symptom of pregnancy - it could be because of stretching skin but also just because of the pregnancy because people get it everywhere including their scalp!! I have a spot on my leg right at my hip that constantly itches - and I have dry skin everywhere!! I didn't have this with my first but this time I sure got it!! There are some super moisturizing creams that work - they can cost extra but well worth it.
Reply:Do your best not to scratch as it will result in stretch marks from breaking the elastin down in your skin. Slather on as much moisturizer as you can stand, and although I said it before, it bares repeating:

Do your best to avoid scratching.
Reply:Could be your kidneys get checked out.
Reply:yes!! this happens to me too!! I can't sleep if i don't scratch.. But it's not only on my belly, also on my arms %26amp; legs.. I don't know what it is.. but you're not alone =P

God Bless
Reply:Let me tell you I got a pregnancy rash in the 7 month of my pregnancy with my daughter. Nothing soothed it! It wasnt due to stretched skin. My MD said some women get it. It is common but awful! I had it from my neck to my knees! Nothing they gave me helped. Then with my son it started to come on around 4 months and I panicked! Talked to my pharmacist and she said to try Aveeno mentholated lotion for very dry skin. It is a great lotion but the menthol helped with the itch. I tried it and it worked! Any time I started to itch I used it and it went away. I highly recommend it! It was worth the $6.00! Good Luck!!!
Reply:I have the same problem, I thought it may of been my washing powder but its just the skin stretching. Its only serious if its really bad and localised as in hands and feet, but ive had itchy legs for a few weeks now, the only thing I find that works is making sure my clothing is loose and sometimes not wearing anything to bed as its worse if something touches my skin. If you get really concerned call the DR as it can also be a sign of a liver problem, but this is usually in much later pregnancy! Good luck x
Reply:DON'T SCRATCH!!!! I have stretch marks all over my stomach, arms, boobs and legs due to scratching while i was pregnant with my son. Just moisturize a lot. It's natural to be itchy, as much as it sucks.
Reply:Yes that is normal it is due to the skin stretching.

I find that using Eucerin Calming Cream has been a big help. Your skin could be itchy also due to dehydration, try increasing your water intake.
