Itchy Skin HELP!?

My skin is crazy itchy but lotion isnt cutting it, is there something esle that might help or something i can bathe in?? Any suggestions would help!!

Itchy Skin HELP!?
Bathe in an "Aveno oatmeal bath". It helps posion ivy, or just natural itching. It's a cheap way to make your dry and/or itchy skin feel better. Otherwise see a docter. I'm sure you can get perscribed.
Reply:Aveno oatmeal bath is moisturizing and soothing. Taking a shower everyday makes the problem worse. Use a moisturizing body wash that is especially for dry skin. Don't use regular lotion, many have alcohols and other things that actually dry the skin more. Use something that says its for sever dry skin or is medicated.
Reply:AVENO oatmeal bath. I've heard it does wonders. You can buy it at Walmart.
Reply:Well, I only know of one lotion, it's called Benadryl. I thought it worked, but I don't know for you.
Reply:I use the all natural products at carolsdaughter.com - they are wonderful.
Reply:Rub oil on your skin while it is still wet, such as baby oil, jojoba, grapeseed or almond oil.\\

You should also run a humidifer if you are around dry heat.
Reply:try takin a bath with refresing things, an example is eucalyptus or mints, it helps alot.
Reply:If it is itchy due to being dry, I found Nivea creme to be very good lotion. As far as bathing, not to hot and you can try some oil in your bath. If you bathe/shower in hot water that also dries out skin. Have you ruled out all reasons your skin is itchy, like did you change laundry detergents?
Reply:you should take anti-histamine tablet and i recommend u to take a bath then moist your body with Calamyl Lotion (Calamine) it would help ...wish u become better soon

If you r hypertensive , don't take the anti-histamine , coz it might elevate your blood pressure and use only lotion ok
Reply:Use Aveno it works great for itchy skin
Reply:Use only bar soaps in winter. Liquid soaps contain alcohol which dries the skin. Some thing like Dove or Caress. Then pat dry your skin( don't rub). Add Gold Bond ultimate healing lotion to skin. This should help and be fine in two days.
Reply:I understand that Avenno (sp?) oatmeal bath can help..there is also a new Eucerin cream called Calming Cream that is supposed to calm those itches..I have good luck with Cetiphil cream...its really thick like Crisco..has no fragrance....and I use it daily...my skin doesn't itch and is soooo soft....even my husband has started using it on his scaly/itchy elbows....
Reply:This could be several things. If it is a visible rash it might be excema or something similar.

If it keeps up go to the doctor for a special prescription lotion that will help with the outbreaks.

I also knew someone that was incredibly itchy and they found it to be a disorder with his blood( he was producing too much blood) and there was nothing visible on his skin, it just was itchy. Sorry I am not an expert except I do have excema and know how annoying it can be. I hope you find something that helps you.
Reply:Go to the drug store and buy some Aveeno products. There are specific creams for itchy, dry, skin. Bath products for the water and an assortment of amazing creams for dry winter skin. Don't take super hot baths or shower since this also dries out the skin.
Reply:Itchiness is a sign of another problem (in that the "itchiness" is not the problem but the symptom) so you need to know WHAT is CAUSING the itch.

If you are itchy and your skin feels dry and stretched after you have had a bath or shower (or been swimming) it is possible you have just got dry skin. The best way to treat that is to hydrate the skin (skin is dead and needs one of two types of moisture- fat or water and in this case it is likely to be water), obviously.

So- pat yourself dry and before you are totally dry use something to enable the skin's ability to retain moisture (the water of the shower or bath). Urea in low concentrations does this. There is a range on the market called Eucerin (in the UK, not sure what it'd be called in the US) which does just that- it makes the skin "trap" the water still present in the skin after it has been wet.

This works well.

Then moisturise with a good lotion and use a good moisturiser for your face. Do not neglect your feet, elbows and knees as those areas suffer most when we have dry skin.

The "good" products do not need to be expensive ones. Nivea and baby products are perfectly good stuff! Some folk swear by simple vanishing cream (once considered to be the cheapest of the cheap) and others like the smell and feel of cocoa butter. Find something you ENJOY lavishing on your skin! Because if you don't DO it, it cannot help!

Remember- AFTER the Eucerin, or similar.

Of course you could have an allergy or have a skin condition. This would require identification and treatment. I use NO steriods although I have some psoriasis but use something called Rescue Cream (same principle as Rescue Remedy by Bach Flower Remedy) when required. I have had one itchy spot which didn't respond to that and for that I used tea tree cream.

Steriods are not good for itchy skin over the long term. They DO work, and work well, but the problem is that prolonged use will thin the skin and that will not be reversible. Once you have "thin" skin you have problems of another type. So- aqueous creams, prescribed by doctors, are to be taken with caution and only by advice!

If you have allergies consider treating the allergies and the skin will calm down as well!
Reply:I've had this problem for years. I had no visible rash, but if I even brushed against something I would get a welt. My Doctor told me it was allergies and put me on medication. It worked, my skin is still sensitive, but as long a I take a Zyrtec a day it doesn't drive me crazy. And if I'm so much as 30 minutes late in taking my Zyrtec, the itching starts to come back. Try taking one of the daily allergy meds, I prefer the Zyrtec, the rest don't cut it for me. Also add Flax Seed Oil to your diet, drink plenty of water, and try not to use too many scented products on your skin. Another suggestion, have your thyroid checked, mine was underactive and that also contributed to the problem.
Reply:It could be the type of lotion you are using. If you are using something heavily scented, as from Bath and Body Works, it could make dry skin VERY itchy and red, like it does to me. So I stick to unscented or low scented lotions that are only for the purpose of moisturizing. As you see in B%26amp;B works, the point basically is nice smells, that's why they have so many scents. I find that Avon has the best moisturizing lotions.
