Itchy skin by my nail?

on my middle finger, the skin by my nail is really itchy (for a few days now) its driving me crazy. why is it so itchy and what should i do

Itches and rashes are often never diagnosed as anything more than "dermatitis", but the Dermatologists will prescribe meds and it goes away. A lot of times never even knowing what the itch was caused by or what it really was. Do you have artificial nails? You want to be careful of nail fungus. Use a good anti-bacterial soap and scrape clean under the nail. Dry with a blow dryer. Apply a tiny amount (half the size of a grain of rice) of: 1) Over the counter Hydrocortizone 1%. and 2) Over the counter anti fungal cream. The best are the creams that are made for vaginal yeast infections like Miconazole.
