Itchy skin during pregnancy?

I'm 7 months along now, but as my pregnancy progresses, my skin has become much more sensitive and itchy. I do moisturize, but it doesn't help much. My OBGYN saysto just keep misturizing, but there's nothing else I can do. Any advice?

Itchy skin during pregnancy?
there is actually a condition that makes you really itchy during pregnancy. my arms would get really itchy at night with my first pregnancy, but i just thought i was going crazy. but then my aunty's sister had it really bad and actually had to get induced early due to it. look into it further.....
Reply:try a little baby oil in your bath, be careful though, the tub will be slippery!
Reply:eat high quality fat such as coconut oil and drink plenty of water
Reply:it could be the kind of mosturizer that you use! I found out that i was actually allergic (not bad just..it made me REALLY itchy and gave me some lil red bumps on my belly) to cocoa butter. I switched to using johnsons bedtime bath lotion for the baby (lol hes not born yet and im already using his stuff) and the itchy ness has atually gone away. My stretch marks have also gotten much smaller and are actually going away! crazy right? haha

i reccomend trying some different mosturizer!
Reply:Try to use cocco butter for pregnancy lotion, and drink a lot of water! It worked for me! Good luck!
Reply:Your doc has given you the best advice. Other than liberally applying lotion as needed, there's not much more you can do. Your skin is just trying to adjust to the much needed room the baby needs in your womb, and in doing so your abdomen skin is really being strecthed to and beyond it normal limit. The human body is a miracle and that it will just to what it needs to. Just hang in there, you only have a few more weeks to go, and all that itchy skin will be flabby itchy skin!!

Take care, good luck!
Reply:Keep yourself hydrated. Lack of water in your body means that same lack of water in your skin. Be sure that the moisturizer your using is a good quality one and will last longer than a moment. My preference is Cetaphil or Eucerin. They are more pricey but a little goes quite a distance and lasts almost all day. The generic of these work well too.

Hope this helps.
Reply:I have found the best lotion. Try the Eucerin line of ultra moisturizing serums. They work wonders!
Reply:im sorry honey to hear that, but your almost ready to deliver ,just hold on
Reply:oh i hate when that happens! i feel for ya...cuz i been there done that.
Reply:I can't believe I found someone else with the same complaint. Everyone thought I was crazy because like you in my last trimester I felt like I itched all the time too. I didn't find any one thing that worked well. I would just take a shower and apply loads of lotion and it would calm down. Someone else told me to mix a small amount of hydrocortizone in with my lotion. Other suggestions were to mix some vaseline in with your regular lotion. I never tried it so I am not sure how well it works. But it's worth a try. Let me know if you do and if it worked so maybe I will know for future reference if I get that problem again. I only used the hydrocortizone on my stretch marks and it worked for them.
Reply:use both a moisturizing oil and lotion. some lotion is water based, it may not be enough alone.

or

Search the web for Cholestasis of Pregnancy

Itching can be more dangerous than you think during pregnency.

I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE...........

I don't want to scare you with this information but it is very important as not all doctors a familiar with Obstetric Cholestasis.

Go straight to your DR and ask about Cholestasis of pregnancy.

It is serious you can have STILL BIRTH.

I got itchy in my first pregnancy no rash but a terrible itch at about 36 week Dr said nothing to worry about but i nearly lost my baby boy.

Then I had it with my next pregnancy at 12 week and was diagnosed with Cholesatsis.

and now I am in week 15 with this baby and I have it again.

Ask to have your bile salts tested this is the only test that will diagnose OC, argue with your Dr if you have to, it is worth it.

An itch doesn't seem much but it can be fatal to your baby if it goes undiagnosed.

The itching can be any where I had it on my legs and arms at first.

I don't want to scare you but please realise this is very important
