Itchy skin after bath?

My middle son 11) says his skin is very itchy after his bath time, I even see him scratching his legs right now. His skin also gets real wrinkly, but what can I do to stop the itch?

He says its most itchy at his face, legs, arms and back

Itchy skin after bath?
give the kid some lotion for crying out loud!
Reply:change the soap make/ that will do it/ try different ones
Reply:water too hot!
Reply:Try switching soaps. Sometimes if I take a pretty warm/hot bath especially in winter my skin itches. Could be the temp. of water.
Reply:Maybe he is allergic to water..or soap, shampoo etc

Get it checked by a doctor
Reply:Use a milder soap, body wash for sensitive skin is the best - contains no soap at all. Dont let him soak for too long and mosturise his skin as soon as he is dry. Don't let him rub his skin hard with the towels either, buy softer towels and make sure they are clean. This should stop the itching, :)
Reply:It depends on where you live, but there has been an increase in the amount of chlorine added to water supplies in a lot of urban centers in the last few years. He could be having a reaction to chlorine. If this is the case, you could get a water softener. These arenot cheap however ($1000 - $5000).
Reply:try any bath and soap suitable for eczema, that way it won't dry out his skin. also could use double base cream after his bath coz it's a really good moisturizer. doctors gave it to me when i was pregnant coz my breast were really itchy and it did the trick for that. use it twice a week after my boys have a bath ( they have a bath everyday though) and they have lovely soft, smooth skin!!

good luck
Reply:well my legs do that sometimes, after i take a bath, so i just hop in the shower real quick and lotion up. Because i figure that when you are taking a bath, the dirt that comes off your body just floats right back on the top layer of you skin causing it to itch like crazy. Just give it a try, it always works for me!
Reply:He might be allergic to some of the soap he's using. Or maybe he has a staph infection? Switch soaps and if that doesn't work, switch again. If he's still itching, call a doctor.
Reply:When was the last time you washed the bath tub?

Make him take a shower, it'll expose less skin to the floor of the tub (quite dirty)
Reply:you might be allergic to that soap
Reply:is it the same after a shower? Let him start taking them instead of baths. Water temp or allergic reaction(soap, shampoo,etc...), change in climate are all varients. Lotion may help. Try Aveno
Reply:Having sensitive skin myself, after years of experimenting and reading into the matter, these things have really helped me:

1) Use baby oil, just like a lotion, on completely wet skin - right out of the bathtub. Little known fact, but skin will absorb much more moisture while wet and the pores are still opened by the heat of the water. Your son then can, while brushing his teeth etc. let the baby oil dry up. It does not take longer than, say, 3 minutes.

2) For his face I would suggest a mild moisturizer, formulated for either babies or very sensitive skin. Also have him apply it right out of the bath tub.

2) Have your son bathe for a much shorter time. This will decrease the "wrinkling" effect.

3) Have him use a soap that is free of fragrances and other allergens.

Hope this will help!
