Fever and Itchy Skin?

I have had a week from hell! My infant was hospitalized with RSV, daddy is a truck driver so my 3 year old and I were stuck in the hospital for 5 days. The morning of our discharge (yesterday) my 3 year old woke up with a temp of 101.4. I have been giving him tylenol and motrin. So now he has no fever. But he started complaining tonight after his bath that his skin is itchy. I am so worried. Any Ideas???

He most likely has Roseola,it starts with a high fever that drops and then the next day you see a rash all over the body.It can be very uncomfortable so talk to his doc about benadryl.This is a very common virus that most kids have as a baby or toddler.
Reply:eczema, could be the itcy problem, since he just got out of the bath. My daguhter has it and she cant use bubble bath, and has to use dove soap. not sure about the fever. but I would take him to the drs.

Does his doctor know he has such a high fever?
Reply:Hard to tell - you should see the pediatrician if he is still complaining of itching, has a fever %26gt; 101.5. Some people are allergic to motrin - any relation of his motrin to the itching. Sometimes warm temperatures (his bath) or dry skin can cause itching. See if lotion helps.
Reply:you might want to get him to the ER he could be having a reaction from something is it blister like could be chickenpox
Reply:If your three year old has itchy skin it could be an allergic reaction to something. Maybe something in the bath water or laundry soap or even something in the hospital blanket. I wouldn't be too worried about it unless he is still complaining about it in a day or two or if any other symptoms arise. Doctors say not to panic about a fever unless it reaches 103 or lasts for more than a day when giving meds to break it. Sometimes a mild fever is a good thing. It means his body is fighting something so unless the fever spikes or lasts through tomorrow don't worry about that.
Reply:The first thing that popped in my mind is scarlett fever. My daughter is just now getting over it. It is essentially strep throat with a rash. The rash starts around the neck or face and may itch. So, if he has a fever, sore throat and itchy that is a sign of scarlett fever. Make sure you get him treated asap!

Reply:sounds like eczma or psorisis, maybe just dry skin but especially with it being winter young children are prone to itchy skin problems. watch him for bumps if he hasn't had chicken pox vaccine though. i am only 21 (they didn't have the vaccine when i got it) but i remember getting it when i was 7, i had a feaver that made my eyes feel like they were burning out of my head. they thought i was just getting a cold and itchy b/c i have eczma. I got them so bad they got in my mouth and throat and i couldn't eat anything for 2 weeks, maybe it will turn out to be a bug bite but if he gets bumps please take him to the doctor to be sure, it can be deadly to him and your infant.
