Dry, itchy, skin with some red spots on face...help?

Last tuesday I was hurt in a basketball game and had my lip busted open and my top tooth broken in half. I had stitches that night at emergency and then the next day I had the tooth re-attached... That night in the emergency they prescribed some antibiotics for me (Amoxicillin, or Amoxil) to take 3 times a day for 10 days. A few days ago, maybe starting saturday or what not, my face became very dry and itchy (basically only in certain spots). So dry that the dry skin would fall off here and there. On wednesday I began to put neutrogena moisturizing cream on my face but it was still the same. Today the antibiotics ran out, and I just took a shower and after it I noticed the red marks on my face, so instead of the cream, I used St.Ives Cleansing Pore care. Now what should I do? Should I continue using the pore cleanser and see what happens (since i THINK the problem may be a side effect of the antibiotic since it wasnt like this before)(note,i used oxy triple clean pads a few times too)

Dry, itchy, skin with some red spots on face...help?
Poison Ivy

What it is like to get it?

At first you get a slight itchy spot, which gets worse and worse. It can be a a small itchy area that will annoy you, or it can cover your whole body with giant red sores that will drive you nuts.

As with other penicillins, it may be expected that untoward reactions will be essentially limited to sensitivity phenomena. They are more likely to occur in individuals who have previously demonstrated hypersensitivity to penicillins and in those with a history of allergy, asthma, hay fever, or urticaria. The following adverse reactions have been reported as associated with the use of penicillins:

Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and hemorrhagic/pseudomembranous colitis.

Onset of pseudomembranous colitis symptoms may occur during or after antibiotic treatment. (See WARNINGS.)

Hypersensitivity Reactions: Serum sickness¾like reactions, erythematous maculopapular rashes, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, hypersensitivity vasculitis and urticaria have been reported.

NOTE: These hypersensitivity reactions may be controlled with antihistamines and, if necessary, systemic corticosteroids. Whenever such reactions occur, amoxicillin should be discontinued unless, in the opinion of the physician, the condition being treated is life-threatening and amenable only to amoxicillin therapy.

Reply:you should go see a doctor. it probably is a side affect from the antibiotic. dermotoligists can help you with your face. they'll give creams to help it get rid of those red marks and itchy, dry skin. so stop using what you are now and just go to the drug store and buy a different thing. buy something from aveeno. aveeno works really good.
Reply:go see a derm.
