Dry Itchy Skin?

Hello:

For those of you who live in the Los Angeles and surroundings areas, you know the weather has been pretty hot and humid.

My skin is going crazy because its been been very itchy and dry all over. I want to take an antihistamine but I have High Blood Pressure so I'm hesitant because it can raise your pressure. So:

1) can anyone tell me of an antihistamine that does not raise B.P. and/or

2) what can I use topically to stop this itching. Its driving me mad :-(

Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Thanx

Dry Itchy Skin?
Benedryl...Keep it clean and try using a 'sensitive skin' detergent in the wash.
Reply:Firstly, an antihistamine is going to work only if there are histamines involved. Is this an allergic reaction? If it is, then an antihistamine is in order.

If it is not an allergy, then you might find a lot more relief in a skin cream of some sort. Any of the common brand names are going to be pretty good here. If you are outside, one with a little sunblock wouldn't be a bad idea. If the sun is drying your skin out, then the sunblock will help.

Also, remember that dry skin is a sign that all is not well inside. It could be lack of hydration, or it could be a metabolic problem, such as hypothyroidism. The body will neglect the skin if there isn't enough blood or "energy" to go around.
Reply:Dry skin types have to be extremely careful to protect their skin.Yogurt-honey combination helps dry skin. Make an egg pack with a yolk, a teaspoon of honey, a tablespoon of milk powder. This is beneficial to dry skin types. There are many helpful tips to cure dry skin at http://useinfo-dryskin.blogspot.com/
