Itchy skin after bath?
Make sure he isnt getting his bath water too hot and keep his skin moisturized. If that is not the case have a doctor see him becuase he may may a mild skin condition.
Reply:Sounds like dry skin maybe. Does he have a rash or anything? You could try using a moisturizer after his bath and see if that helps. Or if he is using a bubble bath try eliminating it and see if the itching stops, maybe he is allergic to a product.
Reply:the water could be too hot. i had this problem before, it just may mean his body can only take a certain high of temp. thats what it was with me. i cut my water temp down and never itched again..
Reply:my fiances niece has the same problem she is allergic to water and the pH level has to be a certain level then after her bath time she has to use moisturising creams as well... see ur local dr they shud be able to let u the the problem and give u advice
Reply:Throw out your bar soap -- I mean it; don't let anybody else who uses the same tub/shower as him use regular soap -- and get some very plain liquid soap. Johnson's Baby Body Wash, or any generic version thereof, is good.
And see what happens...
He might want to slap on a thin layer of a plain moisturizer, too. But try ditching the soap first.
Reply:Change soap, if that doesnt help change the washing powder or clorox you wash the towels and his clothes with he use.
Reply:does he use very hot water or does he just need some lotion??
Reply:Aveeno Oatmeal bath is the best thing for itchy, irritated skin. It could be a form of psoriasis. You might have to have him checked out by a dermatologist.
Aveeno Oatmeal lotion will heal his rough, dry skin as well. Very soothing.
Reply:I think the soap my be the cause. I used to get itchy after taking showers too and my doctor told be to switch to a different soap and i stopped getting itch. If you want to do something about it now then put some hydorcortosone cream on the itchy parts.
Reply:Is he allergic to the chemicals in the soap, shampoo and so on? Some people are more sensitive to it.
Dry skin possibly. Reaction to the chemicals in the towel he uses to dry off with???
Possibly try perfume free products and products with alcohol in it (which dries out the skin more). Good Luck

Itchy Skin, don't know why, HELP!!!?
For the past few days my skin has been extremely itchy. My arms, legs, feet, and hands have an annoying itchy sensation. I scratch alot but there is no rash only my skin becomes red. What could be the cause of such itchyness? Serious inquiries please!!!
Itchy Skin, don't know why, HELP!!!?
Have you tried a different soap? Detergent?
It could be that you need to see a dermatologist, but in the meantime you can go to the drug store and maybe buy some otc itch meds. If it says eczema thats okay too. These will be varied, salves, sprays, lotions and roll ons.
I hope they give you some relief.

It could be the soap he is using. I have a similar problem. I cannot use certain soap, shampoos, etc without my skin becoming incredible itchy(with no other symptoms, no rash, redness, etc).
Try changing soap a few times to see if that is the cause. Remember it could be the shampoo or the bar soap. The only soap I can really use without a problem are Dial and Dove.
Do not use any lotion as these may also cause a problem. Be sure he is rinsing the soap off really well before he gets out of the tub, in case it is the residue on his skin that causes the problem.
Reply:Dry skin. Use lotion
Reply:happens to me, its a result of dry skin and soap
Reply:He could have eczema. My daughter had it as a toddler but it has gotten better in the last several years. Eucerin makes a good anti-itch lotion. Your local drugstore or Walmart should have it. After a bath is a perfect time to put it on.
Eucerin is a non-irritating lotion recommemded for dry skin.
Reply:NO LOTION. Sure, he will stop itching for a moment; but a couple hours later (or tomorrow morning) he will scratch again. He is only 11. At this age it is better to change the soap you use first. If he still has problems, find a carbon based water filter if in a financial bind. If you can afford it, you can get an effective water filtering ball at Whole Foods Market or other natural food grocers. Your son itches either b/c his skin is reacting to the soap or the presence of a mass of metals in the water is being absorbed by his skin.
Reply:It could be the soap he is using, or dry skin, try changeing some of this and see if it improves.

This question is easy to answer!
after you take a bath you put on lotion or cream!
I do it cause my mom doesn't know.....
Reply:try unscented natural soap. grind up some oatmeal and put it in his bath. buy some aveno moisturizer for after the bath. it works great!!!
Reply:cocoa butter lotion
Reply:Buy a moisturizing soap, because the soap you're using is causing the problem.
To treat dry skin, use any moisturizing lotion.
Reply:Hard water and cheap soap might cause a chemical reaction that produces chlorine or another chemical, causing the skin to itch. Get a water softener or a different brand of soap. Good Luck!!!

Reply:I'd try switching soaps first, that's the most likely cause. If that doesn't help you could also try changing the shampoo and conditioner he uses. Aveeno oatmeal bath works great too.
It could be his skin is getting dried out. If that's the case, have him take a quick shower with cool to lukewarm water and a moisturizing soap. Hot water, long baths, and harsh soaps can make skin dry.
Reply:Sounds like he's staying in the tub too long and his skin is dry. Don't let him stay in the tub for too long. If he soaks (plays) in the tub, then don't use the soap until just before he'll be getting out. Then wash quickly and get him out. Use Dove or Tone.
Reply:Does he have dry patches when he is dry? if not then it's unlikely he has eczema. I get red raised itchy patches after a bath. it's just what my skin does, it always goies away without a trace a little while later. So I tend to take more showers than baths as I don't getit then. But it might be worth looking at what he washes with incase he's allergic. Get him to wash with mild or baby body washes and shampoo for say a week ortwo and see if there's a difference.
Reply:Mayve instead of taking a bath, he should shower. I would recommend using some lotion, but, if that doesn't solve anything, take him to a dermatologist.
:o)
Reply:Sounds like the water is too hot, "His skin also gets real wrinkly", for his skin.
Reply:I have a 7 y/o with the same problem and think you should take him to the dermatologist. You can start cutting out baths, instead tell him to take warm not hot showers(quick showers), get him glycerin soaps, instead of using lotions he can use mineral oil. I hope it helps a little bit.

Itchy skin and scalp?
my skin and scalp get really itchy at night time. i mean really itchy. some times i wake up and i scratch for a good 30 mins to an hour. i have no patches or anything, i'm just itchy.i think it all started while i was pregnant (not pregnat any more) three months ago. does anyone have any ideas? or remidies?
Itchy skin and scalp?
please see this site and give me ten points.
Reply:TO stop itching u can have lot of protein tabs u can apply egg white or yogart or banana pack
this will enrich ur hairs
If itching is too much then u can try kapur oil every time itch
Reply:Sounds like the air in your home is dry.
Rub your scalp with olive oil, u can buy it in grocery store or
dollar store.
That should restore moisture naturally.
U can also buy aloe vera gel which is excellent for the scalp.
Remember when u wash your hair to rinse under heavy tub water to get all shampoo out....sqeaky clean.
Dont ever leave shampoo left in hair. Rinse with cold afterwards makes hair shine.
Reply:How often do you wash your hair? You might be over washing it or using the wrong shampoo's for your type of hair.
Use creme rinses, moisturizers after shamppo's, let the creme conditioners set in hair for about 7-10 minutes, after massaging it in for a couple minutes. Rinse in luke warm water, pat dry hair. Avoid hair blow dryers. Hot water/hot air dryers, not only dry out the hair, but it dries out the scalp's natural oil, this causes itching.

Changing your bathing habits can also help. If you bathe too often, it may dry out your skin. Try to take short, lukewarm baths or showers. Oatmeal baths (one brand name: Aveeno) may be soothing to dry skin. After a bath or shower, pat your skin dry and put a moisturizer on your skin right away. Use a mild soap every day to clean your genital area and under your arms. Only clean other parts of your body 2 or 3 times a week with soap.
Some people use bath oils to help make their skin less dry. However, these oils can be dangerous because they make your tub slippery. To avoid slipping and falling, put the oil on your skin after you get out of the bathtub. Plain baby oil works well.
Reply:he probably spends too much time in the bath. and the water may be too hot. Which is causing the wrinkly skin but the itching may be from the soap he uses. Get an oatmeal bath soak to take for a week and see if it improves. You can get the entire line of oatmeal products like soaps and lotions etc. They may help with the itching
Reply:Could be sensitive to chlorine, but probably is from dry skin and too hot of water. This is usually seen more in winter time, people crank up the water temp, which dissolves your natural oils on your skin, and gives you dry skin. Also,If his skin is wrinkly then he is staying in the water too long...which will aggravate the above.Try warm water, then lubriderm(or generic)afterwards for a week,if not better go to a derm.
Reply:Sure cure.. it not a rash..fleas.. etc
His skin must be dry.. and it will help the winkles as well..
Use warm to hot water in the tub.. and put some baby oil ( a cap full) in the water.. soak at least 15-20 mins
before getting out..
wash only the private parts with soap lightly.. and rinse with shower for a min..
or use Oatmeal ( from the kit. or buy at ur drug store) in the tub ~~~~~~ again u will have to soak..
extra rinse not necessary..
works for me every time...
good luck,,
Reply:You didn't say whether you live in an arid climate or not. I do and my doctor prescribed this when I was little. Use the Walgreen's knock off brand of alpha keri. (Not baby oil. It won't get absorbed.) On his face, use the creamy petroleum jelly and any other areas that are dry and itchy. In the winter, continue to do this %26amp; when he gets out of the bath, follow up with some good lotion, like curel %26amp;/or use the same petroleum jelly all over. As for his skin getting wrinkly, sounds like he's staying in the bath too long, which will really dry the skin out. A bath or shower shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes. Good luck.
Reply:Sound like he has dry skin. Water dries out skin. When he takes a bath put some oil directly into the bath or but Aveno oatmeal bath stuff in the water. See if that helps. If not do the same thing but then apply oil or lotion right after he gets out. I get the same itchy skin if I don't do both those things after a bath or a shower. When putting on lotion/oil after being in the bath do it no more than 5 min after he gets out. This locks in the moister from the bath and prevents the skin from drying out faster.
He says its most itchy at his face, legs, arms and back.

Itchy skin after bath?
He needs a moisturizer! Staying in a bath with soap tends to dry out skin, especially during the colder months. Make sure he is hydrated and drinking enough fluids. He may have eczema, check it out with his pediatrician.
Reply:the water might b to hot! or it could b that he not rinsing the soap off all the way!?
use some aloe to make ther ichyness 2 go away! =D
Reply:Ironically, water can dry out the skin. He can try bath mineral oil, but I would suggest he switch to showers and keep them short, because it sounds like he has sensitive skin.
Reply:use a bath salt, and moisturizing mild soap like dove, and a mild or unscented lotion
Reply:i use to be the same when i was younger...it was because of the soap i would use
Reply:This could be from a few reasons:
If you use any cleaning product in or around the bath, this could be an irritant to his skin.
Is he using soap or bubble bath? He could have an allergy. Try something more gentle like Johnson %26amp; Johnson.
This could be dry skin, make sure he moisturizes afterward.
Does he dry off with towels afterward? The dryer sheet, laundry soap or softner could be an irritant.
The most common reason is hard water. You may want to have it checked for excessive minerals or toxins. Have it tested and go from there. All you may have to do is get a new salt block or filter.
Good luck!
Reply:well, you should buy dove soap with moisturizer in it
Reply:1] quit using bar soap. Buy him a moisturizing, hypoallergenic body wash like Aveeno [ read labels ]
2] short showers instead of long baths
3] using a new detergent or softener on towels?
4] buy him some hypoallergenic lotion, and lube him up after he dries off and puts his briefs on - you can reach his back for him, he can do the rest [ I used to keep the lotion in the tub or shower so it would warm up with the water ]
5] maybe you need a humidifier?

Have you tried Nivea cream for men. It is very good for soothing itchiness. If you use an aftershave, you could have an allergy to it.
