5 y.o son itchy skin after bath?

My five year old son has itchy skin. It is worst after his bath. He is allergic to Eucerin. I tried that once and it gave him a terrible rash. Dove does not help, we used that for several months with no improvent. Any suggestions would be appreciated on lotions, or soaps that could help. He does have eczema, but can not use the Elidel that he used to use because of a reaction with another medication that he is on.

try ivory i have eczema also its the only soap i can use you might also try triamcinolone acetonide cream 0.1%
Reply:Could be fungus. Wash the tub and don't wash the towels with the bathroom rug.
Reply:There are tons of other creams (I would use a cream or ointment over a lotion) out there -- you might have to experiment a bit - Aquafore, Cetaphil, Vasaline, etc... You want a cream that is good for sensitive skin - does not clog pores and has no fragrance or dyes in it.

Since it sounds like you have seen a derm for his skin - try calling the derm's nurse and see if they could put you together a packet of sample creams - most derm offices have tons of different types of lotions in sample sizes. That way you won't have to spend a lot of money.

The big thing with eczema is that it is dry skin that rashes. As you find a cream that works, keep him nice and moist and the eczema should start to subside. Make sure that his baths aren't too hot -- hot water causes additional drying of the skin which will make the eczema worse. As soon as he gets out of the bath, pat him dry (not too dry) and lotion him up. The faster he gets the cream on him, the more protective it will be. Warm dry air and environments will also contribute to theeczema.

Good luck
