37 weeks pregnant and suddenly have red, warm, itchy skin? Is this a concern?

Woke up yesterday with new birght red stretch marks. Didnt' think much of it. But my skin started turning red and was slightly warm to touch! Kinda like a slight sunburn. Over 24 hours now and it has spread to almost my knees and is a little bit on my arms too. Some of the redness looks like pin pricks. It gets itchy spells and can be sore. Due to the 'pin prick' look in some areas I went to Walmart and my blood pressure is up to 135/94 and my pulse is 101 (if those machines are accurate). Should I page my midwife or just email her and let her read it tonight? Baby is lazier today, but it moving abit. Is this a concern (with my daughter my blood pressure was off the charts and I was induced, but this pregnancy is going SO much better than the last). Should I be concerned or casual about this? I haven't added any new soap or lotion to my skin lately...

It sounds like it could be PUPPPS - http://dermatology.about.com/cs/pregnanc...

Call the midwife of doctor for advice. They might suggest you take a Benadryl for the rash and itching, but call to check first. Don't forget to mention the blood pressure numbers. Stay off of your feet as much as possible until you can speak to your doctor or nurse about how your feeling and the symptoms that you're experiencing. They may want you to come in and take a BP themselves, and probably check your urine for protein to rule out Preeclampsia.

The most important thing is to get off of your feet and call your doctor right away, just to be safe. A good doctor or midwife would rather you called, then let something that clearly has you this concerned go on. So sit or lie down and call them now!

Good luck and take care :)
Reply:I'm so glad you spoke with your midwife! I hope that she was able to offer you some reassurance and hopefully something to ease your discomfort a little. Thanks for the best answer!

Take care and be well. :)

MJ Report It

Reply:it is probably your body getting ready for labor but call midwife to ask her about it.
Reply:lotion lotion lotion....

But for your blood pressure, I'd say call your doctor or midwife right way and let them know! They have been monitoring your progress all this time, so they will know you're body better than I, but 135/94 is extremely high...way too high.
Reply:If you are pregnant and anything out of the ordinary should happen to you, I would show a little concern and get it checked. You don't want anything to affect your unborn child. I would rather be safe than sorry.
Reply:Maybe it was just the anxiety of it all, that can definitely raise your BP. Just relax for a minute.
Reply:omg this could be a sign of placenta previa....or preclampsia call your doc asap!
