Dry, itchy painful skin underneath nose...?

I have been blowing my nose frequently due to the weather and the fact that I have a cold. The frequent nose blowing has caused the skin underneath my nose to be itchy and painful. Is there anything I can do to help and make it feel better??

Any tips would be useful...

Dry, itchy painful skin underneath nose...?
after you wash your face pat gently with soft towel and put a thick coat of" vaseline"it is best right before you go to bed other lotions might sting . Trust me .....years of experience

Rash now itchy dry skin?

I had a itchy red rash on the lower part of my legs. It is about gone. I used rubbing alchol on them to relieve the itch. could it of dried out my skin and that is why I'm still itchy? I have tried everything to relieve the itch. Not getting much sleep at night because of the itch.

Rash now itchy dry skin?
Lay off the rubbing alcohol...this is a drying agent. Next time try a hydrocortisone cream for the rash. This relieves the itching and helps clear up the rash. Try Sarna, Aveeno skin relief moisturizing lotion, gold bond lotion. These lotions help relieve the itch and moisturize. Good luck!
Reply:i would think alcohol could have dried your skin. you should try hydrocortisone cream. it's very good for rashes and bumps. and very safe. my husband uses it after shaving to prevent bumps and irritation.
Reply:The rubbing alcohol dried out your skin which is why it is still itchy. A good lotion and a couple of days should relieve your itch. It this persists, see a doctor, itchy skin could be a sign of restless leg syndrome.
Reply:Dry skin always so irritating...I hate it so much...I suggest you try using Zenmend Derma Lotion from Zenmed or Autopalm from Skinstore.com.

Zenmed has no side effects and it's non-irritant to the

skin. It's proven to works fast and it povides Maximum

results! It's certainly a good lotion to prevent further

outbreaks.

Another product that I think is effective is Atopalm. This dry skin mlm is one of the best seller at skinstore.com now. (Skinstore.com holds more than 10,000 skin care products) It's pretty effective, and worth the dollar paid out.

Itchy irrating skin on face!!! help??!!?

ok, im a guy and im 19 years old. i have sensitive skin. on my face, everyday it always get itchy and irrating, especially near my sideburns, and cheeks. sometimes it gets red. i really hate it. what can i do? should i use e45 cream? i already drink quite a lot of water and eat fruit and veges!! thanks

Itchy irrating skin on face!!! help??!!?
I wonder if you are have food allergy. No cream can do justice if you have allergy or either that your skin is too dry,

if that's the case, drink lots of water and use a good facial cream. I wonder if it could be windburn, if so, drink plenty of water and use facial cream with spf 15+. A good drink that's very absorptive is aloe vera. You can find this at the organic food market.

Hope this helps.

Itchy, crawling skin....?

My skin feels itchy all over my body, including my scalp. I have a few (4 or 5) bug bites (large welt-like) but they are *probably* just mosquito bites from being outside at night.

I checked all over my room and my bed and did not see anything as far as bugs. I have an indoor cat who doesn't appear to the naked eye to have fleas. I started taking Chantix on Monday to quit smoking... could it be just an allergic reaction to the medicine? It is not listed as one of the common side effects but I stopped taking them yesterday and feel a bit better....

Itchy, crawling skin....?
Bathe... your dirty.
Reply:it's the chantix.....common side effect. call your doctor.

good luck!
Reply:Check the FDA site for some info on Chantix,

It would be good to speak to your Doc, it might not be the Chantix.

Extremely Red, Itchy, Dry skin after tanning - how to treat?

I've been tanning 3 times in a high intensity sun bed called SunSport, using tanning lotion by Designer Skin and ever since, my skin on my back is VERY red, dry, and itchy. I keep applying lotion for dry skin every 30 minutes or so and it won't stop!!! What can I do?

Extremely Red, Itchy, Dry skin after tanning - how to treat?
First of all don't use a sun bed, they emit the same amound of UV rays as the midday sun! I find that aloe vera is great for itchy skin and sunburn. You can buy aloe vera gel at health food shops or better yet buy an aloe vera plant and break off parts of the plant and rub it on.
Reply:It's called UV allergy, quit using sunbeds, if u want to have nice tan do use some tanning lotions.
Reply:use some oil,
Reply:dont tan
Reply:It sounds like you're having an adverse reaction to the radiation of the tanning bed. You should put that off until you can heal properly first.
Reply:take a cold shower and then apply calamine lotion to it and stop tanning or it will never go away.
Reply:Well what you do is, to stop the irritation put Rooibos (Redbush) teabags in your bath, about 3 to 4 bags should do the trick. The only problem is I'm not sure if you get that kind of tea where you are? If not, put tea-tree oil on your back.
Reply:noxema will take away the pain and itch and moisturize your skin. slather it all over your burn.
Reply:don't use it. ur allergic to it, they say to try it on a small area of ur skin and leave for 48 to see results. so its easy to get rid of stop using that product. and next time apply to a small area and test it out first

Itchy Dry Skin?

I'm 3 months pregnant, and my skin is sooo itchy. My stomach itches every once in awhile, but my arms and legs itch all the time! I scratch it and my skin looks like a lobster. My skin has also become very dried out. Is this a common thing during pregnancy?

Itchy Dry Skin?
Welcome to pregnancy! Yes, it is normal. It may changfe over the next few weeks or it may actually get worse. Just remember to moisturize everyday. I found a little secret at Bath and Body Works...get some body BUTTER...not just lotion or cream moisturizer...but BODY BUTTER. It is super thick and creamy and keeps you moisturized for almost the whole day without having to re- apply. You can get bosy butter at a local pharmacy or wal mart...but the ones at Bath and Body Works smell better and have lots of choices on scents.

Good luck and Congrats!
Reply:Just put a gentle lotion on your skin to cut out the itchy feeling. Go to the doc. if you think you should.
Reply:yes, use baby oil or some lotion with aloe, getting a humidifier could help hydrate your skin.
Reply:Drink water, lots of it. Your skin need hydration
Reply:yes that is very normal, and theres nothing much you can do about it,you can ask your doctor what to use for itching or i heard some people use cocoa butter.my skin is soo itchy too(im 39 weeks pregnant) that im having a hard time sleeping at night, but i found out that using a dry skin lotion helps me a little bit,and i know its hard but try not to itch because it will just make it worse
Reply:DON"T use baby oil it blocks oxygen from getting to your skin and makes things worse

The same thing happened to me, just find a good lotion

I like Renew by Melalueca
Reply:Palmer's coco butter. This will become your best friends during and after the pregnancy. I have been using this for 15 years and even more since I had a baby 5 months ago.
Reply:Yes! Generally it's a sign you are not drinking enough water. If you don't have enough fluid intake for you and the baby, your skin will start to dry up because your body is trying to get it from where ever it can. This happened to me with my first. Try to drink as much fluids as possible. In the mean time just apply lotion on the dry areas.
Reply:sorry to tell you this,,,,,but its stretching. when skin expands, it gets itchy.....try using shea butter lotion.
Reply:Palmer's coco butter is a lifesaver for your ever growing belly and I swear it cut back on my stretch marks - barely had any! Good luck!
Reply:it probably is a combination of both being pregnant and winter drying out your skin. i know thats how it is with me. like everyone else said, just lather on some lotion. its best to put it on right out of the shower since your pores are more open... i like jergens, its cheap but smells great and does its job!
Reply:yes it is normal. alot of pregnant women get dry/itchy skin while pregnant. but it is due to change in hormones. Every womans body will go through different changes while they are pregnant. my skin is really dry and itchy right now too and i am 8 months pregnant. i have had dry skin my whole pregnancy, but i also get it every winter. what i use for my skin is aveeno baby lotion with oatmeal ingredients in it. try that it helps clear my skin. i will use it sometimes once a week and it will keep my skin moisturized the rest of the week, and it wont itch.

Good Luck and i hop that helped ya!
Reply:if ur stomach is starting to strech then that could cause the itch.....if your not showing yet you will may want to maybe drink more water....stay hydrated...%26amp; cheek with your physcion. they may say use a lotion, but coconut butter is real good

Itchy flaky skin after swimming?

Recently the weather has been dry and at first it started with a itchy rash around the eyes after I went swimming in a warm pool this one time. A few days after, my whole face gets flaky when I rub it and it itches a little bit in random areas. This never happened to me before in the dry season and also in dryer places. I already live in a place that's considered "humid". It's also weird to see that I have such oily skin but it's still flaking? I put moisturizer but my face still itches and flakes if i rub it. My skin has always been oily and I didn't need much moisterizer even in the dry countries I visited. Although the rash around my eyelids is gone, it still gets itchy once in a while and I can even feel my eyeballs being too dry because it's always warm and tiring. Anyone know the problem?

Itchy flaky skin after swimming?
Was it a chlorinated pool ? that could be the answer,

an alergy to the chlorine.

Why is my skin itchy?

My skin is itchy and red. Is it a allergic reaction?? What can I do to make it go away? I didnt try or use any thing new

Why is my skin itchy?
well if you live in a cold place (since its winter or if you live in like alaska) and there isnt a lot of moisture in the air....its probably just dry skin, so just try putting on some healing lotion - it cant do you any harm .... if it doesnt help at all or sooth it then ask a doctor or your parents or whatever
Reply:It may be dry winter skin itch. Try a skin moisturizer which is milk and unscented or one you have previously used. If that doesn't help, try to narrow it down to anything unusual you may have eaten (such as shellfish or nuts) in the past several days. Benadryl helps some people with itching %26amp; is available over the counter. Read the directions, it may make you drowsy. Of course, you can also call your doctor!
Reply:Here is what looks like a good website for you to look at. http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/...

I know that some vitamin defeciencies can cause itchy skin. But, yours doesn't sound like that (with the redness). It is winter so it could be the weather. Also, lack of water is a huge reason for itchy skin. Bed bugs cause itchy skin as well.

To start, I would wash your bedding, take a shower and put lotion on right afterwards, drink tons of water (and no caffeine which actually dehydrates your body since it is a dieritic), take some vitamins and eat some all natural foods. Also, lower your intake of breads %26amp; pasta (which can also cause itchy skin).
Reply:if you live somewhere where it is cold, like the east or midwest

could be the electric heart and the cold

try moisterizers if that is the case

of benadryl cream

Reply:You may be having oversensitive skin or your skin may be allergic to something. Do consult a doctor for advice though and maybe do a allegic test.
Reply:Could it be eczema? Is your skin dry or flaky?

It could also be circulation problems(blood) as the last places it gets to are the extremities(hands, feet etc)
Reply:honey..there are a lots of skin problem...its best to seek the dermatologist help.
Reply:sounds like it could be a medical problem that requires a consultation with dermatologist or it could just be dry to the humidity. Try this: After each shower, lightly pat dry with towel, then put on baby oil. These keeps the moisture on your skin. good luck!
Reply:Dry skin comes with age, rub your skin with almond oil, shower is better than a bath, if you take a bath put oil into your water, out of the shower or bath, do not dry your skin let it dry by itself,,,you have to have time for that, I lie on my bed for about 5 minutes then I get dress.

if this continue check with your family doctor,,,,oh yes,,,drink lots of water it flushes the toxin out of your body
Reply:Either dry skin, or you need to change your 1. soap 2. washing powder. I had the same thing, found out it was Aldi's own causing the problem : )
Reply:itchy skin, especially without any sort of visible rash or spots, can be a sign of renal problems. you should go get yourself checked out
Reply:Sounds like you ned to take some anit histamines, get them cheap from Morrissons etc, I only get this in summer and the tablets take it off
Reply:I am into natural and holistic health...you might take a look at doing a parasite cleanse. Obviously rule out the obvious first with your doctor or medical professional....but sometimes you have to look further...depending on your diet, your present health and age. There are a number of options for you. A Detoxification might be in order. Our skin is one of our largest organs and it de-toxes the body...but sometimes it needs helps, due to our diet and enviornmental condtions.
Reply:was going to say it could be a change in washing powder or conditioner, or bath or soap stuff, but as its mainly your hands and feet, i don't know, see your doctor
Reply:probably an allergic reaction to something..may be the sun..see a dermatologist for some tests

Itchy skin problem?

My boyfriend has various skin problems anyway, but seems to be ridiculously allergic to the shower. He had a shower a little while ago and has gotten increasingly redder and itchier on his hands and feet. What can he do about this immediately, and what can he do in the long run?

Take a shower with lukewarm water. He could also try soaking in the tub with a cup of apple cider vinager and 1/2 cup baking soda added to lukewarm water for 30 minutes

VERY itchy skin on Legs?

Ok I have heard of the pregnancy itches but this is rediculous!! I have the itchiest legs ever! I take a shower and then I start itching my legs, then these red bumps started showing up and I itched them. It feels soooo good to itch! The red bumps go away after my skin cools down after my shower. I have scratched so much sometimes that my legs hurt and are scabby in spots. I know, don't itch but I want to dig my skin off somtimes!!! I have put coco butter lotion on it and to no avail it still itches! what have you done? I am going to ask my dr at my next appt if it dosent stop. Help me!!

VERY itchy skin on Legs?
If you are pregnant, i would not put alot of unnecessary medicines on your legs... such as benadryl lotion or steroid lotions... these are commonly used to decrease itching that is due to contact with something that you are sensative to...however, if you are pregnant, you want to avoid any medicines unless they are really necessary...

If you develop welts, it may be that you have an allergy to someting in your environment.. such as new laundry detergent, perfume, chemicals in the fabric of new clothing, bedding, .. the list is endless of things that can cause contact dermatitis or skin allergies.. these can itch and be very bothersome...

Dry skin can cause what is commonly referred to as "Winter Itch" one home remedy that really works.... keep your skin hydrated... just after you get out of the bath, apply a thin layer of lotion or even vasoline to your skin while it is still wet... this will hold the moisture in your skin and decrease the dry skin "winter itch "

If this does not work, you may want to visit a dermatologist.

Good Luch,

One important thing.... If you scratch an area that is irritated, you can cause damage to the integrity of the skin and develop an infection.. this could make your problem of itching worse than it already is...

One way to Alleviate sever attacks of itching is to rub an ice cube over the area for a bout 30 seconds.. this will stop the itching and will avoid damage to your skin cause by scratching with finger nails.

Hope My Ideas will be usefull to you!

Good Luck
Reply:chicken pox?
Reply:till then put on oven mits...u cant scratch u will have scars!!!!!
Reply:use itching relief cream....it really help stop the itch
Reply:uh not chicken pox, no oven mitts necessary lol. its just dry skin, its winter, and when you take hot showers (especailly longer ones) your skin dries out even more. try shortening your showers or at least the temp and apply lotion as soon as you get out of the shower to retain the moisture. good luck:)
Reply:i dont know if its pregnacy cuz i get that way all the time almost everyday i just have sensitive skin.
Reply:Yes with winter and being pregnant. You have very dry skin I bet. And espescially if you take a hot shower. Hot water makes your skin dry out for some reason. I don't know. BUt I've been told to take warm baths, not hot showers. And then put on a thick moisturizing lotion/cream. I had to do this when I was pregnant.
Reply:ask a doctor :]
Reply:if you take hot showers the hot water draws alot of your moisture out. causing you to itch. try turnin the heat down a little bit and puttin lotion on asap after gettin out. i itch all winter from all the gas heat and especially after showers
Reply:take shorter, cooler showers and use some baby oil right before you get out. Then, instead of rubbing your skin dry, just pat it dry with the towel and use a moisturizer, something without perfumes or dyes in it. Vaseline Intensive Care is a good one to use, that will help lock in the moisture just as the baby oil will and that should help your dry skin.
Reply:Try turning the temp on the shower down a little bit - you may be getting heat rash - remember your body has extra stuff going on inside and reduced circulation - your body may be sending the extra heat to your legs to try to get rid of it - you said yourself it goes away after you cool down
Reply:These days, being pregnant, it's hard for you to have anything for yourself. Vitamins, calories, and even moisture are being sucked up by your baby. It's true that, also, this IS winter. Hot showers and baths will make your skin extremely dry. Aveeno lotion or even baby lotion might do the trick. Make sure to keep your legs moisturized even before you get in the shower to keep those post-shower bumps away. =]
Reply:Try some calamine lotion.
Reply:Sounds like a candida yeast related problem. The way you described it feels like the itch is "under" the skin and you are trying to get at it. If you are not digesting thoroughly, the food particles can sit in your stomach causing immune and allergy problems. If you are not eating right, this will make it worse for you. Sugar and Carbs will make you feel itchier.

Take some acidophilus. You can buy it at any vitamin store. GNC has a really good brand. Works for me.

Also make sure you digest your food fully. If you have that feeling that food is coming back up into your throat DO NOT take tums or an antacid. This means you don't have ENOUGH acid in your stomach and when you take an antacid, you are depleting the little acid you DO have. If you are constipated, then you need to take an HCL supplement to increase your stomach acid at meals.

Good luck, it may take a few days - but if you take the supplements you will make the itching go away.
Reply:when i was pregnant i had a condition called colestasis. What you have described sounds exactly like what i had. I would go to your dr for a blood test because it has something to do with your liver. How far pregnant are you?.... I ended up getting induced because of it.
Reply:dont mean to scare you but i was just reading an article on "when to call the doctor" and this was one of the things they wrote about, it maybe nothing bu they say servere itching can be a problem... mention it to you doc at your next appt
Reply:Making the best choices for our bodies, and ultimately our skin, is achieved through good diet/ food, exercise, regular professional treatments, personalized homecare, and above all, a healthy mental attitude.check out http://tipsfromruby-skincare.blogspot.co...

I smoked my 1st and last cigarette yesterday. now i suffer from severe coughing and itchy skin, how to stop it

i know i know serves me right. but the coughing is so bad my chest actually hurts .. how do i eliminate the coughing? any herbal recipes? will ginger help?? and does the itchy skin has to do with it?

i really want to stop coughing so bad, its painful :(

I smoked my 1st and last cigarette yesterday. now i suffer from severe coughing and itchy skin, how to stop it
Sounds like you had some sort of allergic reaction if you're itching...which is good because hopefully that means you won't smoke again! :) I'm not sure about any remedies except maybe sipping on some honey tea to help with the cough. It should go away in a day or so.
Reply:Honey and lemon.
Reply:It was only one day ago. It will go away. The itchy skin may not have anything to do with it or it could be an allergic reaction. Now you know that you don't need to ever smoke again.
Reply:First congratulations.

Second you are having a form of withdrawal. You should probably talk to your doctor, see what he prescibes. or even get the patch.

Again Congrats. Great step for thenew year. Keep going. Need encouragement let me knwo
Reply:If the coughing hasn't stopped in 24 hours, I'd say you need to go to the ER for a nebulizer treatment. That'll help relax the allergic reaction your bronchials are having to the inhaled smoke. For the itchy skin, you can try Benedryl (sp?) cream or get something when you go to the ER for it also.
Reply:allergic reaction maybe try taking a OTC antihistamine

HELP! Dark spots on teeth, bad taste in mouth, always thirsty, dry/itchy skin?

help!! I have a bad taste in my mouth for weeks, which I attributed to needing to drink more, I thought it was based in the throat I guess because it makes me want to drink and drink.... Ive also had extremely dry/itchy skin for weeks all over my body (don't know if this has to do anything with it). Anyway, last night I took a good look when brushing and found dark spots on 5-6 of my easily visible teeth!! HELP!! Are these cavities? I am in college and can't reach my dentist and I am moving in 1 1/2 months even farther from my dentist who is already 300 miles away....How urgent is this?

HELP! Dark spots on teeth, bad taste in mouth, always thirsty, dry/itchy skin?
Visit your doctor. It sounds more than just a dental problem. :-)
Reply:You need to see a doctor. I had similar symptoms and only found out when I ended up in the ER that the extremely dry itchy skin and excessive thirst were signs that my organs were shutting down one by one. Liver unable to clean toxins, kidneys unable to filter blood. Pancreatitus, all at the same time!

Does anyone know what to do for a pomeranian with flaky dry itchy skin?

I have a 2 yr. old 5 lb female pomeranian. She has got very dry itchy skin. She is black and I can see white flakes all in her fur. I have tried giving her oatmeal baths and there are not working. Can someone suggest anything?

Does anyone know what to do for a pomeranian with flaky dry itchy skin?
First, you may want to take her to see a vet if you havent, to make sure she doesnt have an underlying condition such as mites.

Other things you can try are adding some vitamin E oil to her bathwater. SHe may be a little bit greasy afterwards, but it will wear off and help with the dry skin.

Also, they sell special shampoo for dogs with dandruff and extra moisturizing shampoo you could try.
Reply:maybe try giving it an oatmeal bath and then work some

aloe vera gel through its fur?.
Reply:Don't bathe her so much maybe.
Reply:you can get a special type of shampoo but before you do ask your vet about it because some dogs can react to somethings or mabe he is reacting to something go ask your vet next time you see himor her
Reply:Is she scrathching alot? Have you tried Benadryl? 1mg per body weight. Use 25mg pills. So if she is 25lbs, 1 pill twice a day. If she is 15 lbs, give 1/2 tab, if she is 10 lbs, use baby benadryl.

Do you groom her? Have the groomer use conditioner, not the perfumed kind, like V05 hotoil.
Reply:There are special shampoos for dogs with skin

problems. Get it at the pet store.
Reply:What worked for my black lab when she got dandruff is putting a tsp of vegetable oil in her food for a few days. Cleared right up and she hasn't gotten dry skin again. =)
Reply:Three suggestions:

Check for flea dirt. Take a cotton ball and soak it in warm water. Rub the damp cotton ball at the base of her tail, under her legs (at the "pits") behind her ears. If at any time the cotton ball gets little spots of dark dirt that stain the cotton ball reddish, you have signs of flea dirt. A flea shampoo followed 48 hours later by the application of Frontline Plus for her size should do the trick -- along de-fleaing the house, her resting spots, all the laundry, the carpets etc.

If you don't have fleas (and I hope you don't but they are so hard to see on a black dog) then try adding a few drops of olive oil or cod liver oil to her food and avoid bathing her more than once every two weeks. Be careful not to give her too much oil or she will get the runs! You may also try to chainge the main grain ingredient in her food -- if there is corn, switch to rice. Some animals build up an allergy to corn, or wheat or rice and simply changing their diet will alleviate the problem.

Lastly, if she has not been bathed in awhile, bathe her in diluted Selsun Blue shampoo and rinse it well. Dogs like humans can get sebhorhea build up and it does itch and cause flakiness.
Reply:Go to your vet and see what's the problem. It might be dandruff. Or the problem might be because you give her too much baths. Don't do too much baths because it makes dogs have dry skin.
Reply:Alot depends on the dog food she eats, the cheaper the food the less it does for the dog. Holistic Pet stores are online if not in your area and can recomend a quality food. The better pet stores should be able too. Get one with natural preservatives. The top food lines all seem to make a skin food. Pro Plan makes a fish one for skin/sensative tummies that I've used and many others are available. I also use a skin supplemant, the fish oils ones seem the best. Diluted Skin So Soft is ggod for dogs coats after their baths and repels mosquitos. If you are feeding a poor food or one that does not do well with her all the baths won't help.
Reply:first identify why the skin is dry.

Are you bathing too much? A dog shouldn't be bathed more than once a month.

Are you feeding good quality food? Lesser quality foods are more likely to be an allergy or just cause dry skin. Don't feed anything you can buy in a super market or market chain. Pet supply chain stores are ok. Feed stores are better.

Is this a reaction to flea protection? Spot ons, flea collars, and powders may cause skin reactions.

Is it a skin disease? Mange?
Reply:This is very common with Pomeranians. I'd recommend seeing a vet of course...but also try a science diet with no human food or treats, limiting the time your pet is outside, bath less (over bathing a dog can cause more problems than you think), comb your dog regularly and make sure that what you're seeing isn't flea droppings.

I'd also try adding a fish oil suppliment to your dogs food. This is often recommended by the vet.
Reply:yeah i know what to do.ASK YOUR VET!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely see your doctor. It sounds like an allergic reaction to something, but you do need to have your doctor check for other diseases.

My 75 year old Dad is always bothered by his ITCHY SKIN???????????????????????

he is 75 years old and is in otherwise healthy shape...

the only thing that bothers him is constant dry itchy skin. i have bought him so many different lotions and potions.

do you know of anything that would help him??

thank you!!

My 75 year old Dad is always bothered by his ITCHY SKIN???????????????????????
First and foremost, never use soap on dry skin. Even so-called "moisturizing soap" will dry his skin. Unless he is getting really dirty on a regular basis, he only needs soap for parts of the body that are either oily or sweaty (think face, armpits, and groin). The rest is adequately cleansed with just water.

Second, as soon as he gets out of the bath or shower, have him dry off quickly with a towel, then apply moisturizer before the skin is completely dried by the air. I suggest Eucerine cream as a particularly good brand, although there are stronger ones by prescription (he can ask his doctor about Lac-Hydrin, for example).

Third, have him drink plenty of water: Hydrating the skin from the inside is as important as external moisturizers.

Finally, there are some conditions besides just "dry" skin that could cause what you describe, including eczema, psoriasis, and fungal infections. If the advice above fails, have him see his doctor.

Hope that helps.
Reply:take him to a dermatologist to get a skin test. Its probably something lacking in his diet e.g zinc.
Reply:when he takes a bath try that aveeno that has oatmeal in it for the bath water. it works great. They also have it a lotion also for afterwards.
Reply:rub petroleum jelly on his skin. it can heal the skin and keep it not so dry and itchy.it basically hold in what ever moister he has in his skin so it don't evaporate.
Reply:A lot of older people have problems with dry skin -- as skin ages, it loses some of its ability to moisturize itself and you have to start doing the work for it from the outside! But he should also make sure he's drinking enough water every day (even mild dehydration leads to dry skin), and that he's eating a healthy, well-balanced diet with plenty of the good kinds of fat in it (olive oil, for example).

If he's on any medications, it's possible the dry skin is a side effect of one of them as well. You can look the medications up at http://rxlist.com to see a list of the most common side effects. If it DOES seem like a medication is the source and it's annoying enough to want to do something about it, he can talk to his doctor about options.

Other than that, he just needs to get serious about moisturizing. The best time to do that is right after he gets out of the shower or bath, as you lose a lot of your skin's moisture when you're bathing (and the pores are open then as well, which helps your skin absorb the lotions). There are a lot of types of lotions on the market, so he'll just have to keep trying them until he finds one he likes, or else learn to live with the itching!

It might also be worth seeing a dermotologist about this, as there are prescription moisturizers that might help as well (and the dermotologist could also rule out any other causes, like medications or skin infections or other conditions).

Good luck! You sound like a great kid, trying to take good care of your dad! I hope he appreciates you! :)
Reply:My ex has the same problem theres this stuff called "dead sea salt" not only does it stop the itching it actually heals!

Please help me figure out what is causing my itchy skin?

about 2 weeks ago, i undertook a major cleaning of my house. Ever since then, every day I am finding anywhere from 2 to 6 new spots of itchy skin. I do have allergies to dust and everything associated with it. I have tried everything I can think of from washing all of my linens/slip covers for the furniture to actually taking the shop vac to my furniture (including my bed). I can't stop scratching!! It's driving me crazy... I appear to be the only one getting these, my fiance doesn't have anything on him. I've been doing some research and these bites resemble bed bugs but I don't know where they would have come from. I shower on a regular basis... I don't know what else to do... I haven't changed my diet or anything. Could I have developed an allergy to my laundry detergent even though it's the same one I have always used? What else could it be?? I haven't been able to get to my dr's b/c his schedule is basically the same as my work schedule.... HELP PLEASE!

Please help me figure out what is causing my itchy skin?
the unsettled dust seems to have sparked your oversensitive skin to react, making your other more minor allergies to your bedsheets and cleaning products more conspicuous and extreme.

you haven't got mites, especilly seeing as you cleaned your sheets and your partner hasn't got any bites. you need to buy eqyptian cotton sheets, change your cleaning cosmetics to hypoallergenic and acohol and perfum free, and if this doesn't work, change your mattress.

in the meantime try an antihistamine product i.e. benadryl, or another brand containing Ethanolamines. this will reduce your reactions, although it will cause drowsiness even if it claims not to on the packaging

try using a spray with aloe vera extracts to speed up skin healing for the bites i.e. http://www.aloeverasupplier.co.uk/produc...
Reply:any skin conditions around the mouth or chin are usually hormonal. see gp
Reply:Sounds like you are allergic to one of the cleansers you used, but it could be continuing because it's taking your liver a while to purge the toxin. Take a benedryl for the itching, if you can, that should also help start the skin healing. Also, you might pick up echinacea w/goldenseal (a natural antibiotic) at walmart to help your liver along in cleansing your system if you think you need the extra help.

Does anyone have advice on some natural remedies for Itchy skin during pregnancy and Nausa during pregnancy?

5th baby and my skin is HORRIBLY ITCHY!!!!! and I have constant nausa ... just looking for some good ol' natural remedies to try...

Does anyone have advice on some natural remedies for Itchy skin during pregnancy and Nausa during pregnancy?
PLEASE READ THIS IS IMPORTANT******

I answer any questions to do with a itch during pregnancy because it is important for ladies to know what risk there is to your baby.

Please visit and READ Information at

www.itchymoms.com

or

Search the web for Cholestasis of Pregnancy

Itching can be more dangerous than you think during pregnancy.

I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE...........

I don't want to scare you with this information but it is very important as not all doctors a familiar with Obstetric Cholestasis.

Go straight to your DR and ask about Cholestasis of pregnancy.

It is serious you can have STILL BIRTH.

I got itchy in my first pregnancy no rash but a terrible itch and so sick at about 36 week Dr said nothing to worry about but i nearly lost my baby boy.

Then I had it with my next pregnancy at 12 week and was diagnosed with Cholesatsis.

and now I am in week 18 with this baby and I have it again IT STARTED AT 8 WEEKS THIS TIME.

Ask to have your BILE SALTS tested this is the only test that will diagnose OC, argue with your Dr if you have to, it is worth it.

An itch doesn't seem much but it can be fatal to your baby if it goes undiagnosed.

The itching can be any where I had it on my legs and arms at first.

I don't want to scare you but please realise this is very important
Reply:Lotion...a lot of lotion. Maybe something with a cooling sensation, if you're skin isnt broken out.

Crackers and small meals for nausea. Or you can do like I and go to sleep once you start feeling sick. I've heard ppl say ginger, but when I was reading herbs you shouldn't consume while pregnant, ginger was amongst them.
Reply:If your skin is a dry, and you are bothered by it, I suggest you try using Zenmed Sensitive Skin Care System from Zenmed or Autopalm from Skinstore.com

1. You might have been exposed to dustmites when you cleaned your house. These dustmites continue to thrive or float in the air even if we have already wiped clean our house. You can try to use de-humidifiers or other sprays that have allergen trappers.

2. It could be your detergent. Most allergies are developed over time not inborn. Since you have always used that laundry detergent, it is highly possible that you have developed an allergic reaction to it. Try to change your detergent. And avoid fragrant soaps or detergents as these are common allergens. Also, try to stop your use of fabric softener (if you use one) and see if the itching stops.

3. It can also be because of your bath soap. Try using hypoallergenic or baby bath soaps.

4. Or it can also be your body lotion. Try switching to hypoallergenic or unscented lotions.

5. Check out your diet too. What have you been eating lately? Try to list down what you eat everyday and the allergic reactions that you have (mild or worse). Most common food allergens are chicken, chocolate, nuts and seafoods.

Does anyone know a remedy for rough dry itchy skin?

my 2 yr. old son has red dry itchy skin nothing i use seems to work-HELP PLEASE

Does anyone know a remedy for rough dry itchy skin?
he might need an ointment with topical steriods. Consult a dermetologist.
Reply:Betnovate cream. It has to be prescribed but is very effective. Not sure if it's suitable for 2 yr olds though. Either that or Calomine Lotion. It's used to easy the itch of chicken pox and stuff like that

My dog and my moms dog has VERY itchy skin?
If it's dry itchy skin it could be allergies. Too frequent bathing can also cause this.

Put the dish soap DOWN %26amp; step away. The stuff is not good for the dog's skin.

Check your dogs' food. Does it contain corn, wheat or soy? Corn is a very common ingredient and is a major allergen for a lot of dogs.

When you used the flea product, did you treat ALL your pets? Fleas are usually brought home by cats. If using the once-a-month treatment you must also get the feline type %26amp; treat the cats, too.

Some dogs have a reaction to the flea treatment, too!

So, it could be one of a number of things. You will have to do a little detective work.

Personally, I would start with a change of food.

EDIT: Sounds like your mom's dog needs it's anal glands addressed. See your vet or groomer.
Reply:Perhaps they are having an allergic reaction? Corn is a big culprit.
Reply:If they get shampooed to much, this can dry out their skin. Take them both to a vet and get it checked out for sure.
Reply:I don't think it's fleas, it's probably mites if you just see 1 or 2. They might have the mange. The vet will give you a shampoo to use on all of them if it is. I bathe mine in the expensive stuff if I can get it. But if not I use head %26amp; shoulders because I read that over the counter dog shampoos aren't really good.
Reply:Ask your vet and he/she will prefer something for your dog. I use Adams Flea/tick shampoo and it gets rid of the fleas pretty good. I'm not sure if it can help with itchy dry skin though.
Reply:well sometimes when your dog is itchy it isn't fleas at all. my dog has dry skin and in the winter she gets really itchy. my vet told me to use oatmeal shampoo or any kind of conditioning shampoo b/c it will help their scalp from being so dry. And if you can help it you might not want to bath them for a week or so, but their natural oils will help with that too..
Reply:Get some top spot, pets mart has it if you have one there or you can get it from the vet. Each pack is sold by the dogs weight. This type of treatment works much better than sprays, collars or shampoo's. Dish soap should never be used, that will dry the coat and skin and cause scratching. Use a mild oatmeal based shampoo for dogs.
Reply:To Tamara's earlier point, there are tons of things your dogs could be allergic to. We were letting our dog have some scraps until we learned she was allergic to bleached flour. She had ripped hair out of her hind end and we had to take her to doctor which is where we did the testing. It is really expensive, so you might want to just wean them down to dog food if you are letting them snack.
Reply:First of all, take them to the vet. Rule out parasites and everything.

If there's a flea problem, the vet-prescribed flea stuff is the best.

Another thing I suggest to help with itching is to feed a high quality food. Many dogs and cats are allergic to the grains in commercial food. Try looking around these two sites and getting a feel for what a good dog food is:

http://www.dogfoodproject.com/

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/

If it's fleas, though, get the flea stuff from the vet and thoroughly clean both houses - yours and your mom's. Vacuum all the floors and wash all the bedding and clothes - you need to kill fleas in the environment as well.

Good luck to you!

My dog and my moms dog has VERY itchy skin?
For the Dogs with dry skin just like humans you can put a lotion on them. A vet told me to get a lotion same as humans use, like Lubiderm. Make sure they are perfume, scent free etc. then you just rub it into their skin as you would on your own. When getting any type of shampoo, lotion etc. if it be made for dogs, cats or humans you wanna make sure it is either Alcohol free, or has very minimal alcohol in it because this just makes the skin even drier then it was to begin with.

Also if you get a Tea tree oil, FLEAS,LICE,ETC DO NOT LIKE THAT STUFF...put a little bit of the oil in a spray bottle mixed with water and spray a mist over the animals and rub it in.(This can also help with the dry skin problem) This may take a couple applications but once on you should see the fleas fleeing the scene lol,,they do not like it. I don't know why, I just know that Ive tried it w my cat and it worked, and I also tried it on my kids when the school had an outbreak of lice, I would just spray a fine mist over their hair (during brushing, or after done styling, etc,) before school and they never got the lice.

Also Limonene is an Orange oil, this also acts as a flea repelant, you use it the same as you would the tea tree oil.

Good luck, I know fleas are a royal pain to get rid of.

Also....

If you have fleas in your carpet, you can sprinkle some Borax laundry soap over your carpet this will help kill the fleas, it dehydrates them which in turn kills them. Let it sit and get in the carpet good, and once its sat awhile just vaccuum it up like any other carpet powder.

Best Wishes %26amp; Good Luck!!!
Reply:thay make special shampoo for dogs with dry skin they sell it at wal-mart, petsmart, and pet co.
Reply:Dry skin or possibly mites. Mites are microscopic, so you can't see them. Try buying a shampoo that gets rid of mites and heals dry skin. :D

Hope that helps. Good luck.
Reply:sounds to me like its probably an allergy to something. next time you wash ole stinky, use a pitcher of warm water and add some vinegar and use to rinse. sometimes that gets rid of the stench. maybe the bathing is too often. water dries the skin more. you can also give the dogs a raw egg a week. it has proteins. will also in time give a shiny coat. if your feeding table foods, dont. maybe just call and ask the vets what they can suggest. dont give a name (unless they have to call back-or they'll want you go in). hope this helps you out. good luck!
Reply:This is the typical answer, but go to the vet and get advantage. This stuff works on both cats and dogs so they will be good together and won't make each other sick. It is not very expensive and works for fleas and ticks for at least one month. The stuff you get from walmart is not good for them. It contains poison, that is what kills the fleas and makes your kitty and dog sick. It is terrible for their skin, it dries it out as the poison is working. The advantage from the vet is not nearly as harsh as the crap you get OTC. That is why the vet has it, people don't see it working and will keep putting it on until the animal gets sick and get sores from it. I hope you can get your pets healthy.
Reply:Stop with all the bathing. You are doing it way too often, which means you are stripping away the dog's natural oils and drying out the skin. Sometimes just putting the dogs on a better quality of food will help with dry skin. Look for a dog food with a name you recognize and then let price guide you -for the most part higher quality foods cost more. Just buy a smaller bag and mix in small amounts with their regular food for a month or so to see if it helps.

Put all of the pets on Advantage. If you see even one flea, then its a good sign that there are hundreds more just waiting to hatch in your home. Cats, dog, and mom's pets all need to go on it - probably for 3-4months. You will get rid of the itching once the flea population starts to die down.

Smelly skin is infected skin. Your mom's dog needs to be seen by a Vet. No question about it!

If the dry skin doesn't clear up with your dog after using flea meds and good quality food, then I would also recommend bringing your dog in for a Vet consult, as there are other things he may suggest.

What is the best remedy for a chronic itchy skin?

Whenever I sweat and eat yellow foods, my skin gets itchy all over.

What is the best remedy for a chronic itchy skin?
go to a dermatologist. they will know what is the safest and the best cream to get rid of itchy skin. i think you should first check with a allergy doctor first.

What is the best cure for severe itchy skin?

I have had some type of allergic outbreak. I have red, itchy bumps everywhere. Benadryl makes me too tired. My skin is severely irritated. Please help!!!

What is the best cure for severe itchy skin?
Cortisone cream. Use the Aveeno bath soak packets...they will help a lot. Also, take the non-drowsy Benadryl.
Reply:get rid of the cause. no point taking benadryl if you're still lathering yourself with asbestos.
Reply:try the benadryl cram instead or hydracortizone cream
Reply:See a dermatologist. There are topical ointments that can be used to treat it. Calamine lotion is a quick fix (found at local drug store) until you can get a prescription for something better. The doc may even give you a topical steroid if you've got dermatitis. Once you've used it for a while it may go away for good... or it may be as much as a year before you need anything else. You'll probably need to apply to the affected area for a few weeks and then a bit after it goes away.

Good luck!
Reply:There is a benadryl cream that you could use
Reply:Try using Hyo. Periode. I use it alot .....helps for bites , pain, skin etc. Just put in palm of hand and put on . Drys quick and not expensive at all. Pem

37 weeks pregnant and suddenly have red, warm, itchy skin? Is this a concern?

Woke up yesterday with new birght red stretch marks. Didnt' think much of it. But my skin started turning red and was slightly warm to touch! Kinda like a slight sunburn. Over 24 hours now and it has spread to almost my knees and is a little bit on my arms too. Some of the redness looks like pin pricks. It gets itchy spells and can be sore. Due to the 'pin prick' look in some areas I went to Walmart and my blood pressure is up to 135/94 and my pulse is 101 (if those machines are accurate). Should I page my midwife or just email her and let her read it tonight? Baby is lazier today, but it moving abit. Is this a concern (with my daughter my blood pressure was off the charts and I was induced, but this pregnancy is going SO much better than the last). Should I be concerned or casual about this? I haven't added any new soap or lotion to my skin lately...

37 weeks pregnant and suddenly have red, warm, itchy skin? Is this a concern?
It sounds like it could be PUPPPS - http://dermatology.about.com/cs/pregnanc...

Call the midwife of doctor for advice. They might suggest you take a Benadryl for the rash and itching, but call to check first. Don't forget to mention the blood pressure numbers. Stay off of your feet as much as possible until you can speak to your doctor or nurse about how your feeling and the symptoms that you're experiencing. They may want you to come in and take a BP themselves, and probably check your urine for protein to rule out Preeclampsia.

The most important thing is to get off of your feet and call your doctor right away, just to be safe. A good doctor or midwife would rather you called, then let something that clearly has you this concerned go on. So sit or lie down and call them now!

Good luck and take care :)
Reply:I'm so glad you spoke with your midwife! I hope that she was able to offer you some reassurance and hopefully something to ease your discomfort a little. Thanks for the best answer!

Take care and be well. :)

MJ Report It

Reply:it is probably your body getting ready for labor but call midwife to ask her about it.
Reply:lotion lotion lotion....

But for your blood pressure, I'd say call your doctor or midwife right way and let them know! They have been monitoring your progress all this time, so they will know you're body better than I, but 135/94 is extremely high...way too high.
Reply:If you are pregnant and anything out of the ordinary should happen to you, I would show a little concern and get it checked. You don't want anything to affect your unborn child. I would rather be safe than sorry.
Reply:Maybe it was just the anxiety of it all, that can definitely raise your BP. Just relax for a minute.
Reply:omg this could be a sign of placenta previa....or preclampsia call your doc asap!

How can I help relieve my dog's itchy skin? I think I brushed her too much?

Help! I think I brushed my dog too much with The Furminator, a fine-tooth rake that removes undercoat. She is a 7 year old golden retriever-chow mix and doesn't have very thick fur to begin with. A few days ago, she started getting really itchy, biting and scratching a lot throughout the day. I see some red spots and lesions on her skin, but I don't see fleas. (She has never had fleas. She's on oral Sentinel, which kills flea eggs, but I haven't given her the topical Frontline Plus in a couple of months. She hasn't been off leash lately and I don't see how she could have fleas.)

I'm really pretty certain it's not fleas. I bathed her in tea tree oil and oatmeal shampoos last night and put some expired anti-itch solution on her after that. She is still itchy. What other remedies can I use to help her out now? I feel so horrible for doing this to her!

How can I help relieve my dog's itchy skin? I think I brushed her too much?
hi my vet has suggested- --

efa-z-plus it is an essential fatty acid supplement for skin and coat conditioner for dogs and cats

you squirt it on the food . contains linoleic acid, vitamin a vitamin E,zinc, pyridoxine, biotuin, inosil in certain amounts ..ingredients states sunflower seed oil, fish oil, borage seed oil etc only available at vets
Reply:we buy this speacial formula called dog coat theropy u can get it at wal-mart or a drug store and she stops icthing.
Reply:yeah, go buy some oatmeal dog shampoo and that will help you ALOT!! good luck.
Reply:may be you can join with http://theclickinfo.com/usa_animal/
Reply:Could be mange. Have her checked out. You could also rub some sun block into her coat and put some olive oil in her food.

Why did you put expired medicine on her??? Would you do that to your own skin???
Reply:she probably has flees or she needs a bath
Reply:Dogs can pick up fleas very easily especially this time of year. One could have just jumped off of another animal and when your dog walked by it could just jump on.

Sometimes putting a bit of oil in their food can help the dry skin if that's the problem.

When all else fails see your vet as it could be something more serious. When in doubt, see the vet.
Reply:I believe your doggy has food allergies. Do you give her commercial dog food? it may be the cause of her permanent itching. You may try different dog food. I know it's hard to switch but I sincerely believe that she is allergic to what she eating right now.
Reply:White vinegar application stops itching immediately
Reply:Bagbalm works very well on "hot spots" those red sore areas that itch. You can find it in your local "beauty/cosmetic" area of your local department store.
Reply:How long has the dog been on the Sentinel? These products can cause side effects too. Check out the side effects. Feed a good food with omega 3 and 6. Stop brushing the dog, this strips naturall oils. You should only brush 1 a week if that.
Reply:ok here's what you do, STOP the meds!

Stop bathing her in wierd stuff!

Don't do anything and leave the poor ol girl alone.

At the most flea season should be over by now, and if not in your country, feed her garlic really this repels fleaa and all kinds bugs an worms too ps so does oregano.

second of all this tree oil stuff????.... common..... Dump that vet.....they have no clue at your expence on simple baby gaga stuff. DUMP THEM

baby powder will help her if moister is the kinda stuff that is the problem. Like rashes and so forth. Put your hand on her sore spots it is hot? and slightly moist? Yes that means infection irritation and so on. That's clear to me. Medicated baby powder or just baby powder will fix it.

You can't brush a dog too much. However%26lt; if your brush is scrtching the skin then STOP IT. get a better brush.
Reply:Go to your vets and see if they have a shampoo called Malaseb its specially designed for dogs with itchy skin and is also Antibacterial based as well.
Reply:Vet needs to check her out. Also ask the vet to recommend a good brush for your dog. Doesn't sound like she has much undercoat to need that kind of brush? Once the leisons are cleared up, groom her per the vet instructions. Stop giving so many baths, Why would you use Frontline and the Sentinel? Sounds to me like you are trying too hard and overdoing everything.

Find a good dog food, Innova, Prairie, Newmans and feed her that if you aren't doing so already.

Maybe put your love for her into walks, playing, training and decrease the brushing and drugs and remedies.
Reply:Tis the season for itchy skin! Try hydrocortizone cream for dogs. I have found that it works well. Also, sometime if the dog has allergies benadryl works to stop the itch.

Is it normal to get really itchy skin when outside in the evening?

I find everytime I go outside for a walk in the evening, I immediately get really itchy all over, like there are bugs on me... but there isn't ofcourse lol Is it normal? Know what it's from?

And nooo there aren't frogs under my skin from the coke' lol

Is it normal to get really itchy skin when outside in the evening?
Most likely, it is all in your head. Sometimes when I am outside and feel one bug on me, I start itching all over. Also, just imagining all the bugs. I'd say wear some bugspray and don't think about it. You'll be fine.
Reply:if you have had sun on bare skin during the day, this might be the reason you are itchy at night

Need help with pimply, oily and itchy skin?

Hi! I've had pimples since 6th grade. They started on my forehead and the first dermatologist I consulted (4 years later) said it was because of my shampoo, so I switched. She pricked my pimples and I was pimple-free for a few months. Then I started developing pimples, from small ones to big, red acne, on my cheeks. Another dermatologist treated it (by pricking + a bleach for the scars. Again, I was pimple free. I used creams (with micropeel) + clindamycin. Now, my pimples are coming back, this time, all over my face: small ones on my cheeks and forehead, and big ones near the hairline. And my skin sometimes dry and itchy, but can also be very oily.

Would Virgin Coconut Oil help? How about hot face towels? Lemon didn't work for me... Help!

Thanks in advance!

Need help with pimply, oily and itchy skin?
if you apply the lime or lemon water during the night..and it does not help just try a small spoon of honey and apply all over your face and then wait for it to dry and then wash it with cold or warm water..

more you should use the cucumber water or the blended one and apply to the face..i think this remedies will help
Reply:While less aggressive ideas like coconut oil and hot compresses won't hurt, it may be time to be more aggressive, especially since you have already started some standard treatments with a dermatologist. Consider speaking with one again, since there are further treatments that you have not been on yet, such as Retin-A and Accutane. These are not harmless, so you will need to discuss any questions with your dermatologist.

Obviously, make sure you are avoiding all the problem things in your life such as caffeine, chocolate, harsh chemicals, etc. There is a mild, gentle cleaner called Cetaphil that a dermatologist suggested using for your face (it is not prescription). Unless directed by your dermatologist, I would avoid things that advertise themselves as astringent, "peels" or alpha-hydroxy because the harshness can actually trigger breakouts.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
Reply:I tell every to stop using prescription creams with steroids and over the counter medicine for acne. The best thing for you to do is use glycerin-based soaps and lotions. I use Dove. Also do not use oil-based make-up, it dries the skin. Try using lemon juice. Apply to face, leave on for a few minutes and rinse off with cool water. Or make a paste using ground orange peel and warm water. Apply to face and rinse with cool water. Apply glycerin based lotion.

At roseys-herbal-medicine"googlegroups .com there are some good tips. Especially on foods with iodine. If acne worsen please seek medical attention.

Home treatment for an itchy rash on hairless dogs skin?
believe it or bnot food is the biggest factor of rashes on a dog most the time they are allergic to the corn ibn the dog food. change the food to a high grade quality natural food and more than likely it will go away. Benadryl...... 1 mg per pound of body weight. dog may get sleepy but it is normal. oatmeal bath for the itching works good.Start with a grade of 100:

For every listing of "by-product" or "digest", subtract 10 points

For every non-specific animal source ("meat" or "poultry", meat, meal or fat) reference, subtract 10 points

For every grain "mill run" or non-specific grain source, subtract 5 points

If the food contains BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin, subtract 5 points

If the protein sources are not meat meal or there are less than 2 meats in the top 3 ingredients, subtract 3 points

If it contains ground corn or whole grain corn, subtract 3 points

If corn is listed in the top 5 ingredients, subtract 2 more points

If the food contains any animal fat, subtract 2 points However, if the fat is chicken fat subtract only 1 point

If it contains wheat subtract 2 points

If it contains soy or soybeans, subtract 2 points

If it contains salt or sugar, subtract 1 point each

Reply:Not quiet sure. you could try baby oil..
Reply:I don't have a short term solution for you but I'd like to recommend to you a site where I purchase all my products for my dogs' needs.

When one of my lab/chow mix girls was diagnosed with a bad case of hip dysplasia at age 4 months and my vet told me that she would not be able to walk by the time she becomes an adult, I refused to accept this as well as the high priced pills the vet tried to sell me. After educating myself about the disease and searching the web I found this site and an all natural remedy. To make a long story short-Sadie has passed her 3rd birthday and runs and jumps with the best. I suggest you take a look at the wealth of information offered there as well as all natural remedies that WORK and are much much less expnsive than the vet. Not to mention keeping the chemicals out of your beloved pet!!!

do not use any creams or oils with petroleum aka baby or mineral oil (vaseline) as this does not help your skin.

I suggest pure and natural products like Arbonne -

they are botanical - and swiss made - I have several friends (and myself) who suffer I also use their sea salt scrub.
Reply:If you can get E four cream this is excellent for dry itchy skin, and try and swallow a tablespoon full of good quality Olive Oil daily !Philipo Berio" one of the better qualities.

How to treat scaly and itchy skin on the face?

Just wondering how to treat dead and itchy skin that constantly comes off from the face.

How to treat scaly and itchy skin on the face?
It's good to exfoliate your skin with a gentle exfoliating scrub, that will help remove the dead skin cell buildup. Using a sensitive lotion like Aveeno or Cetaphil will moisturize without irritating your face. Apply the lotion while your face is wet for best absorbition.

It might be beneficial to try using a fragrance-free and dye-free shampoo as well. Sometimes regular shampoo has lots of chemicals that can irritate your face.

How to soothe dog's itchy skin?

I have tried medicated shampoos, anti-itch creams and conditioner on my doggie, but she is still bothered by itchy skin just above her tail. It is not fleas, and I do not see any rash or dermatitis. Suggestions?

How to soothe dog's itchy skin?
there are a few things i can think of that would be a good idea to try:

*have your vet check your dogs anal glands to see if they are full or impacted, which can cause an animal to chew their hind end resulting in hair loss

*switch to a hypo allergic diet like science diet z/d to see if your dog is allergic to an ingredient in it's food

*have a dermatologist do allergies testing to determine if your dog is allergic to something in it's environment
Reply:go to your vet.
Reply:it could be some type of allergies maybe food allergies you could try some oatmeal shampoo and change her diet
Reply:Try some cortizone lotion. It worked for my dog.

Reply:hi,yes it is normal for your skin to itch as it is growing rather rapidly!!! but if it carries on i would get it checked out as i know it is a sign for something...cant remember what it is though! sorry
Reply:Hi, it can be normal as the skin stretches but if it continues or you are still worried ask your midwife as it can be a sign of something wrong with your liver in pregnancy.

Can body heat generate a itchy skin condition to occur?

Can body heat generate an itchy skin condition to occur without causing bumps, rash, hives? With this condition, a person scratches to the point of causing redness, red streaks, raised bumps. Is there such a condition? Is it a food allergy, an environmental allergy? This condition worsens at night and after bath time. Also flares up when person's temperature rises - "hot".

Can body heat generate a itchy skin condition to occur?
i dont think the heat's generating it...its more like they're both the effects of sumthin
Reply:I am not a doctor but it sounds like a form of eczema which I occasionally get bouts of. I find it flares up sometimes when it's hot/humid, and certainly you notice the redness more after bathing/showering (this is a common indication). It's very common and not contagious. See a doctor or dermatologist for treatment.
Reply:Yes. In babies it's called diaper rash, in men it's called Jock itch...it's a heat rash basically. The best thing for it is prevention. Don't sleep in tight clothes, don't leave damp clothes on (for instance after working out or exercising in the heat), wash with gentle soaps. If it doesn't go away you'll need a fugicide, but see your doctor to get the right one for you.

What is the best medicine for itchy skin? such as eczema?

My father is suffering very severe itchy skin disorder in his skin, particularly in his face, what is the best medicine for it to cure the itchyness?

What is the best medicine for itchy skin? such as eczema?
damp cloths are often the most effective treatment for eczema and eczema like irritations of the skin.

my friend had severe eczema all over her body except her bottom. she had tried every cream and potion in the world, nothing worked long term.

eventually someone suggested she wear wet bandages. so she took time off work and bandaged herself like a mummy with wet bandages, and every few hours she used a squirt bottle to remoisten the bandages. within a week her eczema was totally cleared (except for a little bit on her elbows). she now just spritz's her self with water and has her eczema in check.

wet bandages may make your dad feel silly, but it will stop the irriation. even if he only does it at night when he's sleeping it will help.

good luck!
Reply:If the first suggestion doesn't work, maybe petroleum jelly will help? or go to a dermatologist who might prescribe a cream with some steroid?
Reply:Your father should see a dermatologist. The dermatologist can prescribe some creams or lotions, and in severe cases, some pills. My doctor prescribed a cream called Locoid, and that worked.

Your father might also want to try some over the counter products.

I saw that Aveeno has two new things specifically made for eczema- http://www.aveeno.com/

The line is called Aveeno Eczema Care, and they carry moisturizing cream and body wash.

Reply:I had that same problem for 6 years. I developed a nasty rash after some time and I wasted thousands of dollars and much time with doctors all over the place; they even tested me for syphilis several times. After the six year I found out that beer, wine, and liquor was giving me the rash because I was allergic to sugar. The doctors did not tell me this, I found out on my own. I still get it sometimes when I abuse those substances. The only way for me to control it is to cut down drastically from all forms of drinking.....KECK...Ps....Check your sugar with a urine test.

How do I treat my horses itchy skin and hair loss.?

My horse has spots on him where he has lost hair, but not in large amounts....He gets little scabs on him and they get flaky and then he loses the hair.....I think it is a fungus but i cant be sure....i used a Medicated shampoo and it seemed to work then I found another spot on him....The scabs are crusty, and raised and are on mostly where his saddle sits and his legs and ankles....?mud fever? He had really dry itchy skin before the medicated shampoo, we called him "itchy scratchy"

Any help would be appreciated.

How do I treat my horses itchy skin and hair loss.?
Use betadine shampoo, it is medicated for antibacterial and antifungal purposes, then finish the bath with harts hydrocortiscone shampoo. Try currying and brushing him every day to activate oils in his coat this may help itching. Make sure it is not lice or mites and rain rot, mud/sweet itch or ring worm. You can try adding vegetable oil to his feed to get some fat in his diet and I believe Absorbine makes a spray on moisturizer for the coat. if he has naturally dry skin he may itch and scratching the skin introduces bacteria that may make it flake. Good Luck.
Reply:He probably has rain rot. It is a fungus. Make sure to keep him brushed as much as possible, and bathe him with an iodine scrub. You can buy big bottles of it at feed stores.
Reply:There are fungus washes for horses at the tack store. If it were happening to my horse, I would sure have the vet out. You could do Spring shots, too. I had a horse at a trainers and she got scabby sores from the cinch, which were cinch sores. I washed it and I forget what I put on it. I would also use Dr. Bronners Hemp Oil Soap from the natural food store. It has tea tree oil in it which is good for virus/bacteria/fungus. Dry very well after washing.

It sounds like rain rot-- which is one of the most common skin infections seen in horses.

WHY?

The organism that causes rain rot appears and multiplies in warm, damp conditions where high temperature and high humidity are present. This condition is not life-threatening, so don't worry.

TREATMENT

While the horse has rain rot, anything that may rub and irritate the infected skin should be eliminated-- and you said that the rain rot was right around the saddle spot.

Make sure you try and treat it fast because; since the organism needs a warm, moist environment, it is likely that a secondary bacterial infection may become present. The most common secondary bacterial infections known are staphylococcus (staph), and streptococcus (strep). This is why it is very important to treat rain rot immediately, since any secondary bacterial infection may be even more resistant and difficult to treat

Dermatophilus congolensis grows better with a lack of oxygen. Since the organism doesn't like oxygen, you'll have to eliminate a the heavy hair coat (if your horse's hair is long and thick), and remove any scabs that hold the organism to the horse's skin.

It is not a good idea to use ointments on rain rot, since they hold moisture to the skin (and moisture needs to be removed for the condition to cease).

The best treatment is to wash the horse with antimicrobial and antibacterial shampoos and rinses. These medications help to kill the dermatophilus congolensis organism. If Betadine, Phenol or Nolvasan is used, you should continue applying them once a day for one week.

THE TREATMENT:

1. Keep the horse in a dry, clean area that is very well ventilated. Give the horse protection against biting insects. Separate the horse from any others that also have rain rot.

2. Use an antimicrobal shampoo that lathers well. Vigorously lather the horse, let sit for 10 minutes, then rinse. Be sure to follow with a conditioner that works well. Continue this for daily for 1 week.

3. Remove all scabs that are present. This is usually painful for the horse, so be gentle! The best way I have seen to remove these scabs is to temporarily moisten them (so they become soft and easy to remove). Be sure to dry the horse immediately after scab removal.

4. The organism in the horse's skin must be killed. This can be done by using any of the products listed below.

SEVERE CASES ONLY: for severe cases, antibiotics may be used. These include potassium penicillin, procaine penicillin G, sodium ampicillin, streptomycin or gentamycin. Immune-boosting drugs may also be needed for the horse's immune system to fight off the organism and heal. If your horse has a severe case of rain rot, make an appointment with your veterinarian and discuss the antibiotics listed above.

Here is good site that explains it a bit more: I pulled a bit of info from here and checked to see if it was accurate and it cleared =)

Reply:Try shampoo with moisture in it.
Reply:This sounds like rain scald. Here in Australia, all I do is put homebrand babyoil on the spots and they dissapear within a week. It is simple and works

:)
Reply:Sounds like rain scald. Mix baby oil with a bit of tea tree oil (the 'melaleuca alternifolia' one, not the other type), and wipe over the area. I only had to apply it once, but I managed to catch it early.
Reply:It could be a number of things. As you said it could be mud fever. Another possibility is ringworm. I can't say for sure but get the vet or someone to check it out and once you know exactly what it is you can get shampoo or skin products to prevent the specific problem.
Reply:Take a sample of his hair to your vet and have it analyzed.to see if it a fungus .it could be ran rot do you clean him good before you saddle up? Check your saddle and the pad maybe change what type of pad you use .Get a good medicated shampoo .Don't wash him so much while treating him and see if it'll clear up. Good luck
Reply:check it out here.

My father has very ITCHY skin???????

he is 75 years old and is in otherwise healthy shape...

the only thing that bothers him is constant dry itchy skin. i have bought him so many different lotions and potions.

do you know of anything that would help him??

thank you!!

My father has very ITCHY skin???????
a big problem in the elderly. is he on any meds that might be causing more itching? how about the laundry soap he uses? try stuff made for babies for his clothes and sheets etc.

have him dab some good old vegetable or nut oil (almond is good) on his skin after he gets out of his shower instead of lotion that might be full of junk he doesn't need. (watch for slipping though!)

how about 1-2 fish oil capsules per day? take him to a dermatologist or geri doc.

How to get rid of itchy skin?

the skin is itchy and i feel like scratching it. ihave used derm aid and otrher skin cream prescribed by doctor but it does not go away

How to get rid of itchy skin?
It's probably itchy from DRYNESS--especially at this time of year.

Use a good, gentle soap when you bathe or shower (ivory is a good one). And ALWAYS use a good moisturizer from head to toe after bathing. Avon has a really good one--Moisture Therapy with Oatmeal.

Use it whenever you have a chance to--on any area that itches. Aveeno is another oatmeal-based skin cream (I don't know why, but oatmeal is an anti-itch ingredient).

Anyone have a cure for itchy skin?

My wife has very itchy skin. She says it feels like thousands of tiny needles sticking in her skin. She doesn't use perfumed bubble bath or soap ect so its not that. The doctor prescribed soya based products but these do not work. Are there any alternative treatments? She also has trouble sleeping due to the itching. Many thanx in advance

Anyone have a cure for itchy skin?
The Homeopathy SULFUR works the best on all sorts of itching take it thrice a day in 30C potency take it for three days and let me know her progress and symptoms after three days.

Take Care and God Bless !
Reply:Aveno oatmeal baths and oatmeal lotion. Also, try switching to a milder bath soap and laundry soap. We use Dove for sensitive skin and wash clothes with All Baby and it seems to help our family. Good luck.
Reply:Try some oatmeal in a lukewarm bath - add some large flake slow cooking oatmeal to you bath, let it sit while it cools, and then bask in the luxuriousness of it all. White vinegar can also decrease itchiness and irritation - as can baking soda. You can put those into a (separate) bath, or dilute them with water and spritz or wipe onto the skin.

Ingesting coconut oil can help too, if dryness is an issue.
Reply:From the prescription of doctor it seems that your wife does not have any thing serious. She may have hypersensitive skin. For such skin you need to have some form of emolients. One of this you can make at home; To 60 Gm of good quality Petroleum Jelly (this is roughly 4 tablespoonful) add 20 Gm of Nerisone fatty ointment, mix it well and apply a thin layer over the body 01 hour before you plan to sleep. Also apply after taking bath before fully drying the body(just remove extra water from the body by wiping lightly). In this way she will retain moisture in the skin.

Take Tsblet Citrazine(Zyrtec) before going to bed.

Use cotton bedding.

I hope this will help.
Reply:I use Cetirizine Dihydrochloride (Zirtec) tablets (they are anti-histimine) and use an emollient on the itchy parts in the shower.either no talc or moisturising talc.

E45 cream can help

Been there done that its absolutely awful

are your legs swollen as in the skin stretched and shiny this is water retention and can make the itching worse

hope you get sorted soon babes

Just thought i would mention that i have a wheat bag that i used to use to keep warm at night you know the sort you warm in the microwave BIG MISTAKE took days to stop itching after using that
Reply:The best cure for itchy skin is just moisturization. I know it sounds all too simple, but skin itches because it is too dry. Use a hypoallergenic lotion like Cetaphil and use the cream if she is especially dry. Make sure to get cream or lotion all over your body within three minutes of getting out of the shower to seal in the moisture. It will work wonders! :)
Reply:my daughter has got dietry problems which create itchy skin. she is prescribed a antihystimin. and moisturiser. keep the rooms cool. heat makes it worse as i am sure you may have found out. eating fish helps my daughters skin also. and pure vegetable soap. and shampoo
Reply:I have the same problem. Doc put me on Zyrtec, it's an antihistamine, better than over the counter stuff. Haven't had a problem since!! The over the counter stuff makes me hyper (even benadryl) so I was glad the Zyrtec works!! I take it at bedtime with no weird reactions.
